Description of the nature conservation area: Natura 2000 – Upper Pilica Valley Habitat Areas, PLH260018 CRFOP Reg. No.: PL.ZIPOP.1393.N2K.PLH260018.H The area with code PLH260018 runs along the picturesque valley of the meandering Pilica River, which is surrounded by numerous oxbow lakes, creating a scenic landscape. Dense willow thickets and riparian forests, characterized by a diverse tree species composition, stretch along the river’s course. These areas are accompanied by wet meadows, characterized by high biodiversity, including a wealth of flora and fauna, especially species associated with wet habitats. There are numerous swamps and peatlands in this area, but their area is steadily decreasing as a result of natural succession and land improvement measures. This area constitutes an important ecosystem, and its protection is crucial for maintaining biodiversity. This area is also susceptible to human impacts, both in terms of natural changes and human activities, which requires a sustainable approach to environmental management and conservation. The body of water associated with the swimming area was constructed before the aforementioned form of nature conservation was implemented. The swimming area’s shoreline is 40.0 m long. The swimming area is monitored 24 hours a day by the city’s surveillance system. In the area adjacent to the reservoir, there is a beach soccer/volleyball court, as well as playground equipment, outdoor exercise facilities, and a parking lot. The area around the beach is paved, allowing access for people with disabilities and families with small children. Nearby, there is a wooden beach changing room with a shower and two wooden recreational gazebos.
