The water at the swimming area, during the swimming season running from June 22, 2024, to September 1, 2024, was regularly tested for bacteria and visually assessed by the bathing area operator as part of internal inspections, as well as by employees of the District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Nysa as part of official inspections. Based on the results of tests on 8 water samples, the State County Sanitary Inspector in Nysa issued 9 current assessments of the bathing area’s water quality, including 8 assessments confirming its suitability for swimming and 1 assessment stating that the water was unsuitable for swimming due to excessive cyanobacterial blooms (assessment dated August 14, 2024). Cyanobacterial blooms, which cause a change in water color as a result of their massive proliferation, are a problem that occurs periodically at the Skorochów bathing area. Between 2020 and 2024, such blooms were recorded during 3 bathing seasons (2020—2 blooms; 2021 – 3 blooms, 2024 – 1 bloom). Apart from the above, no short-term microbiological contamination or other contaminants that could affect the water quality at the swimming area were detected. Each time a cyanobacterial bloom occurred, appropriate management measures were taken (including monitoring, early warning systems, and inspections) were taken to prevent exposure of bathers, through warnings or, when necessary, a temporary ban on swimming. Since 2022, in response to cyanobacterial blooms, the bathing area operator has been dosing the water with CyanOxide to reduce the negative impact of the blooms on water quality, which prevents the growth of cyanobacterial blooms and promotes the oxidative degradation of toxins produced by cyanobacteria. Furthermore, while monitoring water quality at the bathing area, the bathing area operator implemented the following management measures during the last bathing season: established a schedule for water sampling in consultation with the State County Sanitary Inspector in Nysa, conducted internal monitoring of bathing water quality and daily visual inspections of the water, identified and assessed the causes of water quality contamination at the swimming area, kept the public informed on an ongoing basis about water quality by posting relevant information on a sign located in the immediate vicinity of the bathing area and at its entrances, as well as on the website, took measures to prevent bathers from being exposed to pollutants by imposing and enforcing a temporary bathing ban and raising a red flag, established a water profile for the bathing area in 2011, which was updated in 2013, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2022. Within the RW600022125999 catchment area—Nysa Reservoir—no information was identified regarding sewage discharge points that could affect water quality at the bathing area. However, two stormwater and snowmelt discharges were identified in the immediate catchment area of the Nysa Reservoir, with a combined flow rate of 0.07 m³/s, discharged by Wodociągi i Kanalizacja AKWA Sp. z o.o.
