The facility is located in the Dzierżązna River watershed in the northern part of the town of Zgierz and consists of a swimming area (the so-called “upper pond,” including a primary treatment settling basin, and the main recreational and sports reservoir (the so-called “lower pond”). These ponds are situated on an unnamed ditch (which is a right tributary of the Dzierżązna River). The intended use of the water is for the swimming area and the recreational and sports reservoir of MOSIR “MALINKA” in Zgierz. Water is retained in the ditch for the ponds using concrete sluice gates. The swimming area (upper pond) is a separate facility with a reinforced bottom and slopes, covering an area of approximately 6,000 m² and having an average depth of 1.0 m. The water level in the swimming area is maintained at 170.10 m above sea level by means of a reinforced concrete sluice gate. The current flow, as well as the drainage of the entire facility, is achieved by diverting water from the aforementioned gate via an 80-cm underground pipeline to the recreational and sports body of water (lower pond). The vast, gently sloping southern shore has been developed and designated for sunbathing. The recreational and sports reservoir is located in the lower part of the “MALINKA” complex and serves as the main reservoir for water sports.
